Each of these tiles is born through the elaborate process of Tube-Lining. The result of this time-consuming processing is reliant on the skillfulness of the artist who is tasked with pursuing it and these are simply the best at what they do. The process begins with the artist drawing and exceedingly fine image on the bare tile surface by using special tools filled with liquid clay. This clay forms small barriers that allow the artist to control the dynamics and quality of the diverse liquid glazes that rest behind them.  What makes it possible for these pieces to maintain thier beauty and withstand the test of time is the kiln firing, a process that converts the dull color tones into brilliant glosy ones. Typically being a twenty four hour process, tiles being fired in a kiln undergo several cycles of firings and coolings in temps that exceed 2000 F. This stage often causes fine lines to appear on the artwork called crazing which is due to expanding & shrinking. Crazing is so common that very few ceramin projects are finished without it taking place but has no effect on the strenght and durability of the work.  Not only are these tiles great for hanging on any wall, but the backing can easily be removed by soaking them for about 12 hrs. This makes it possible to integrate them into any tiles system you may already have in your bathroom or kitchen as mentioned.
