Here's a sampling of my Wine Barrel Head Clocks Portfolio for your viewing pleasure and to get an idea of the various clocks that had been made and now SOLD. For currenty available clocks please click here
The Heads (Wine Barrel Top & Bottom) are from either retired French or American Oak Wine Barrels, lightly sanded and stained with a Classic Oak & Polyurethane mix.
Numbers III, VI, IX & XII were cut from Oak Chips compliments of the Martin Ranch Winery in California's Santa Cruz Mountains used in some their Reds. Not all clocks had 6's or 12's because I didn't want to interfer with the Cooperage logo's and markings. Red Feather Winery in Livermore, Ca. had requested I do Clocks for them using their Wine Labels.
To hang up clocks I used a piece of the Quarter Hoops keeping to re-purposed, reclaimed, recycled however you'd ike to class it.
Over time I started to notice Coopers use different methods to hold their Heads together, Wooden Dowels , Nails and Dovetail Joints. Not wanting to compromise their work I figured adding a brace in back made from Quarter Hoops accomplishes two things.
1. Using Quarter Hoops keeps to re-purposed, reclaimed, recycled
2. It's highly unlikely to far apart.
